By donating to research your body lives on, allowing doctors and medical students the ability to research new, life saving medical and surgical procedures and techniques. Anatomical donation for medical research and education can be an option in situations when transplantation is not.

As you plan for the future, we hope you will consider the following:

Ease of registration

• To register get your free registration kit by calling 1-888-848-3113. Simply complete the forms and return in a postage-paid envelope
• Your Anatomical Gifts of the Carolinas ID cards will be mailed in two weeks.
• Anatomical Gifts of the Carolinas pays all cost for donation: transportation from the place of passing to our medical facility, death certificate filing, and cremation.
• Return of the cremated remains (if requested) usually within 5-7 weeks.

Donation Criteria

• The vast majority of potential donors are accepted, including people with cancer, heart disease, C-diff, lupus, ALS, arthritis, stroke and diabetes. Organ transplant donors are eligible for Anatomical Gifts of the Carolinas.
• While we strive to accept every donation, final acceptance is contingent upon medical and suitability criteria at the time of passing, to honor the intent of donation and safety serve the needs of the medical community.
• Exclusion may include contagious diseases ( i.e. hepatitis B & C, HIV/AIDS), extreme obesity or decomposition, certain past surgical procedures and bone and joint issues.

About Anatomical Gifts of the Carolinas

• We are the only organization exclusively serving the Carolinas.
• Adhere to all federal and state legal requirements including Uniform Anatomical Gifts Act.
• All information provided is kept confidential with secure access.
• In the event AGC is unable to accept the donation due to donor’s circumstances at time of death, AGC will provide a direct cremation for $495.
